The Worst of the Globes

Probably the best part of these award shoes is seeing who will dare to wear the outrageous ... and there definitely was a winner for me.

2012 golden globe awards looks
Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier. Aye yi yi... this is the winner, or loser for the night. Good for her for at least giving us a good explanation as to why she would dare wear this out in public: Her daughter helped her pick this out. yeah... don't let your children pick out your clothes, especially if it looks like something a kid would draw on a wall.

michelle williams
Madonna in Reem Acra. ugh... I get it. it's like a rocker edge... but no hunny.

michelle williams
Zooey Deschanel in Prada. I love her and all... but she takes some risks sometimes. This isn't horrible, but this is in no way good. and her hair? ugh... why?

michelle williams
Natalie Portman in Lanvin. Alot of people liked this one, but I did not like how the extra hemming at the waist looks... if maybe she didn't have the extra material hanging out the back, I might have liked this.

michelle williams
Freida Pinto in Prada. Not going to lie here, the color isn't the best against her skin tone. And then there's the bell skirt... I just feel like it's too puffy... and it's deflating at the same time.

michelle williams
Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann. The color looks good on her, but the fact that it's pastel just doesn't work. then you combine silk and pastels, and it goes downhill from there. I think it could've worked somehow... but certainly not like this.

The Extra Globes

so, there were some others who obviously made an appearance on the red carpet, but for me, they were just decent enough to step out of the house... nothing extreme and yet not too simple.

michelle williams
Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham. This dress is simple, and who can go wrong with black and white?

Claire Danes in J. Mendel. I love the back to this dress! It's beautiful. and the fit looks great on her. But to me, a bit too simple to be one of the best of the night. Btw, I've been dying to check out her new show Homeland! it's gotten some outstanding reviews and she got her golden globe of the night for her role in the series. I might just have to check it out...

michelle williams
Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci. Simple. I like the cuts. but then I don't. and I don't like the hem... it looks like the dress was too short for her and someone added extra material. But she still looks pretty.

michelle williams
Shailene Woodley in Marchesa. Super simple. Like the color. fits her well. enough said.

michelle williams
Salma Heyak in Gucci. So many people loved this... but it was whatever to me... I love the top... but then it blends so weirdly with the skirt... it's nice, but not a favorite.

michelle williams
Viola Davis in Emilio Pucci. I love the color. I love the fit. I just hope I look this good in a dress just like this at her age.

michelle williams
Lea Michele in Marchesa. I've always enjoyed seeing people in the "precisely placed embroidery", but in editorials, not the runway. That's where Lea went wrong. I mean, it does looks great on her, but not on the runway+metallic....

michelle williams
Laura Dern in Andrew Dn. When I saw her walk on stage, the color of this dress was brilliance. aannnd, that's it.

michelle williams
Jessica Alba in Gucci. I mean... I don't know. this was the only dress of the night that still has me undecided. and I still don't know what to say...

The Best Golden Globettes

so this person won this award, and someone else won that.... but for the fashionistas of this world, all we truly care for is the 2 hours before the show, when every celebrity in Hollywood is walking down the red carpet. so enough blabber talk, time to see some of the best and worst of the 2012 Golden Globes.

2012 golden globe awards best dressed celebrity
Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang.
That color is stunning! and the mermaid tail was extremely famous that night. . . but this one is definitely one of my favorites.

2012 golden globe awards best dressed
Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace. She's always a winner. this dress was tailored for her! But my favorite part has to be the red peeking out collar, and the vintage (silky) look this gave off. Many chose this as a favorite (as seen on The Fashion Police) but I still have a better choice.

golden globe awards 2012 pictures
Nicole Richie in Julian Macdonald Spring 2012 collection. Practically no one saw this dress, but it's stunning. round of applause to you Nicole. it hugs her so well and falls so delicately. and it's such a perfect tone of metallic wear it doesn't just look like cheap material, nor does it look like a disco ball.

2012 golden globe awards celebrity gowns
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen. I just want to thank God, for creating people like Reese, who are both petite and exceedingly curvy, just like me, and can pull of such a chic, gorgeous dress like this one. She was just perfection. the color, the hair, makeup, the entire package was A+

hollywood celebrity at 2012 golden globe awards
Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci Premier. I doubt too many people saw this one, but when she walked on stage to receive an award, my mouth dropped. This green tone is outstanding, and I adore the mixture of textures. It captures your eye in such an enticing way- not negatively. I only wish you could all see this dress moving.

2012 golden globe awards gallery
Dianna Agron in Giles Deacon. WOW. There's just something about this that captures a viewers eye. I can't say it's one of the best ever, but if one chooses to say so, I believe it's because of the artistic structural design and how captivating it is. (take it from an artists' pov...that's why it caught my eye). But either way, Dianna looked beautiful.

2012 golden globe awards dress
Jessica Biel in Elie Saab Fall 2011. Pretty much, this was so simple, yet so elegant. I would definitely wear something like this. the blush color was another trend of the night, and it's beautiful. and the lace- my gosh... i love love LOVE this.

2012 golden globe awards gowns
Jessica Chastain in Givenchy. I'm pretty much just copying everything off of Zimbio.com 's favorites of the night... but this is super pretty and simple. it looks like pearls are raining down on her dress...and the collar is wonderful.

celebrity at 2012 golden globe awards
Emma Stone in Lanvin. This is probably one of my favorites of the night. The colors are so rich, and against Emma's complexion and hair, it's just amazing. and her shoes? perffffect. and the belt!? even better.... gosh... this outfit. I wish I could just take it home with me.

Charlize Theron Actress Charlize Theron arrives at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 15, 2012 in Beverly Hills, California.
Charlize Theron in Dior. This woman is gorgeous, in every single way. and this dress was just stunning. There's just not much more to say. For those who say this isn't a best dressed... por favor. I will admit, the huge ruffled bow was a bit of a turn off, but come on people! this is a classic. *round of applause*

all photo credits go to zimbio.com. thank you.

Award Season

This has to be my favorite time of the year, when it comes to the fashion. Who doesn't love seeing the celebrities make flawless choices or tragic mistakes? I don't have much to say for now, pero te lo prometo: there will be photos, eventually. Soon, I'm hoping.
Xoxo,
Camila P.

Born to Die

There's a girl ( it could be a boy) & she's driving home alone, a chilly winter night. The windows are down, the music is muted by the wind in the background, & she's just driving. she's tired... And her mind is just all over the place, like it always is. Thoughts here & there, thinking about the prior week, what's ahead for her. & it occurs to her to just take her hands off the wheel- but she doesn't. Then she starts thinking, how peaceful would it be if I just laid back, relaxed, let go, and have the cold air rock her to sleep? Then she decides she's just tired of thinking, she's tired of having to be concerned with everything- not in an angsty way, but just because she's over all that. & just as easily as she decided to not think anymore- she doesn't even think what would happen when 'she woke up' (wherever that may be). She finally reaches this deserted road that leads to her house. She puts all the windows down, the car on cruise, closes her eyes, & let's go... Falling into an endless sleep.

These are the thoughts I come up with on my late night drives home from school, when I'm alone. Don't worry people- I'm not suicidal- far from it actually. But I do think about death. Honestly, I think people are scared to talk about death. (Kinda like a karma thing I guess? Talk out loud about something too much & gravity just takes a new spin) and those people that do think about it, don't talk about it out loud, because people might think they'll need to be put on pills.
But death is part of life, & thinking or talking about it should be just as normal as thinking about where you'll be at the age of 30, or how many kids you'll have someday.
Hasn't it ever occurred to think what would happen if you decide to just 'fall into an endless sleep'? How people would react? Who would mourn, what people would think of you, what you left behind?
Okay, I'm probably scaring some of you now, so enough about dying.
Here's a song that has been stuck in my head lately & I thought it tied in perfectly with this topic: "Born to Die" by Lana Del Rey.
*(just for the sake of, I believe we were born to live, live for God and find our destiny by making our fate. But that's a topic for another day.)
Much love and life,
CamilaP

Houdini

You know how sometimes, you put something somewhere, like a note to remind you everyday to check your calendar, or a book on a certain spot because there's no more room on your shelf... (Okay, I want to end the sentence there because if I don't, it becomes too wordy...did you catch your breath already? Okay, so...)
then after a while you just don't notice it anymore? It's as if it has blended into the setting. You know its there, but at the same time you don't. Get me? Or did I lose you all there?
For me, I have a pair of heels in between two bookshelves of mine that have blended in... (even though they're black & my bookshelves are white)
Well, I thought I'd just express my thoughts like so. That, & I love the fact that I can now email posts from my phone. So much more convenient. & more postings to come!!

Ring in the new year

The fortune I received just a few minutes before the clock striked 12 on new years eve!

spring semester?

that's what it's called right?
lol jk, i know what it's called. i thought a little cute- nevermind. I'm just blabbering now.
hehe
anyhoo... school start tomorrow. after two whole weeks and an extra monday of doing nothing but sitting on my tush, its time for school once again. i hate this sick feeling i get every end-of-winterbreak. ugh...
but enough of my tears.
I saw "The Kids Are Alright" today...
weeeeeeellll.... because of my morals and beliefs and a bunch of other stuff, it was a bit heavy on the porn for me. too much.
but, i guess the story was cute. would i watch it again? heck no. would i recommend it? maybe...
well, that's all the productiveness i did on this last day of freedom.
i hope to blog a bit more this year, seeing as how i have high hopes for 2012.
til then,
ttfn

Helloooooo 2012

hello, hello again.

oh boy, bring in the new year!!!
not gonna lie, i have some high expectations for this year, and i somehow feel like they might be met.
Good news my lovelies: i got a follower!!! even though she's a friend, its another pair of eyes on this website. go give her a look, she's adorbs: http://isabella-treschic.blogspot.com/
unfortunately, the end to 2011 was a bit of a wreck for me. all i wanted to do was dress up, from head to toe in glitter, not be stared down awkwardly for one day the entire year, and go out and party- but that did not happen.
i went to the movies instead. . . you know you have absolutely NOTHING to do when you go to the most public movie theater in your city and NO ONE is there.
but props to Tom Cruise- Mission Impossible was worth my time. (still wanted to see New Years Eve...)

then I got all PMS-y because I couldnt get home on time to see the ball drop in Timesquare... had a breakdown, and then realized- what on earth am I doing?
I am so blessed.
I am healthy.
I have food on my table every day and a shelter over my head.
and most importantly, I have a family that loves me and a God to whom I can put my hope in.
what do i have to complain about?

yes, i do get a bit dramatic sometimes, imagining myself in a movie and the director yelling "CUT!" then pulling me aside and telling me how brilliant my performance was. . . because to me, life is a movie and you decide how the plot goes.
okay, enough of that.

So how did 2012 start off? veryyyy well! Thank you Lord!
the day was so beautiful. the weather was lovely.
and I went to a Dolphins game ... and guess what? We won!! against the Jets! my gosh.

okay, i think this post is long enough to turn off people.
I leave thee with the hopes of love, health, and prosperity this coming year!!

til next time, much love from moi
